Welcome
to my LEP Page!
As
a Licensed Educational Psychologist, my goal is to help students in California
improve their academic, social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health
performance.
Specifics
regarding my practice are described in the LEP Services Manual (click on
the link below). My methods always strive for success and empowerment
for all students. Bottom line: determine the problem, address
it, resolve it, empower the student, and let him or her get on with life!

I work
with parents, students, districts, organizations, and anyone else.
Please
do not hesitate to phone or e-mail
me if you have questions or wish to consult regarding your child's mental
health. The first consultation is always FREE.
I'm looking forward to meeting you and working with you soon.

Seventh Annual Golden
Empire Special Education Conference
It
is my honor to present at the Seventh Annual Golden Empire Special Education
Conference at CSUB on Saturday, October 28th, 2006. This is the fourth
year I've presented on Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
For the first time I'm making available my PowerPoint presentation to you
for
FREE!
(just click on the link or the logo)!

Let
me know if you have questions about 504, are trying to obtain such
services for your child, or would like a speaker for your group on this
or other educational topics.
Revolution
NOW!
Special
education had noble intentions, but, um, it's time for some pretty significant
changes, in my opinion. I hope you'll read what I have to say and
then consider joining my REVOLUTION!
How to obtain LEP services...
We'll consult and discuss
which path(s) will best meet your child's educational needs. The
first consultation is always FREE. In
the consult, we might decide that LEP services are appropriate or we might
decide other pathways or services are necessary (you need to know I won't
recommend my services unless I feel they are what's needed). If/when
we decide to pursue the services I offer, we'll then agree on a plan, fees,
sign an agreement, schedule the first session/intervention, and be on our
way! |

| Donald J. Asbridge received
his Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) in School Psychology degree from the
University of Northern Colorado in Greeley in 1987. His undergraduate
studies were at Eastern Montana College (now known as Montana State University,
Billings). He has worked in Kern County for the past eighteen years
in the roles of school psychologist, director/coordinator of special education,
§504 coordinator, GATE teacher, coach, and others. He has taught
various graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology as an assistant
professor and associate professor at California State University (CSUB)
and Bakersfield College (BC).
His professional interests
are primarily in areas related to computer programming, technology, and
the internet -- especially their uses in the delivery of psychological
and educational services, personality assessment, psychology in sports,
and the merging of the arts and sciences. His primary scientific
philosophies are centered around existential phenomenology, natural and
logical consequences, utilitarianism, resiliency, brief strategic counseling,
and reality therapy/orientation. Ultimately, he strives for what
works for students.
He has presented research
at the Annual Conferences of the Western Psychological Association (WPA)
and the California Association of School Psychologists (CASP). He
has presented on §504 for the past four years at the Golden Empire
Special Education Conference in Bakersfield. He is a Past President
and current Webmaster for the Kern Association of School Psychologists
(KASP). He is recognized in Who's Who Among Students in American
Universities & Colleges (1987), Psi-Chi (National Honor Society inn
Psychology, 1987), and Pi Lambda Theta (National honor Society in Education,
1987).
He is a Licensed Educational
Psychologist (LEP) and has, for the past five years, been providing LEP
services for Kern and Ventura Counties, emphasizing reasonably priced preventive
educational services for students. His activity groups have attended
Dodger baseball games, NASA's Ames Research Center, kayaked, bowled, developed
web pages, and more.
He is a Registered
Sports Psychologist (RSP), having coached for over twenty years and
has over 200 career wins in both basketball and baseball. He believes
that very often a kid may just need to go shoot a few hoops instead of
receiving a lifetime of therapy.
Don Asbridge was presented
the Outstanding School Psychologist (OSP) Award for Region III by the California
Association of School Psychologists at their Annual Convention in Los Angeles
on Friday, March 7th, 2003. |
